History
The National Association for Developmental Education (NADE)began in 1976 with a purpose of proving support and professional development opportunities for professionals in higher education, specifically those working with students in developmental programs. In 2019, to shift the organization’s emphasis to include professionals and students in areas outside of developmental education, NADE changes its branding and with it, was renamed the National Organization for Student Success (NOSS).
In accord, the Maryland chapter of NADE (formerly known as the Developmental Education Association of Maryland (DEAM)) changed its name to The National Organization for Student Success – Maryland Chapter (NOSSMD). Hence, while NOSSMD remained focused on providing support and professional development for employees working with students in developmental education programs in higher education, the shift also allotted for opportunities for educators and students outside of this scope. Hence, in 2019 NOSSMD was officially formed and served as the official chapter in Maryland of NOSS.
